(RST) under the auspices of Dr. Yehia Mabrouk, President of the Board of Trustees, participated in the launch of the Disability Rights Awareness Week at Mansoura University with the participation of 14 universities in the delta region.
Professor Reda Hegazy, President of the University of (RST) and former Minister of Education, witnessed the launch of the “Empowerment” initiative implemented by the Ministry of Higher Education in cooperation with the global campaign “Donors of Hope” to raise awareness of the rights and duties of students of determination within universities
In his speech, Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his pride in belonging to Al-Mansoura University and his pleasure in attending this important event, stressing that a glimmer of hope defeats pain and a flash of trust prompts more effort to continue working and success and nothing is impossible to achieve, and that everyone is able differently
Dr. Reda Hegazy said that the Ministry of Higher Education is represented in public, private and private universities and supports our students of determination and works to integrate them into the university community, and that the empowerment initiative comes within the framework of attention to the youth of universities and the development of their abilities and work to engage students of determination in integrated activities with their colleagues and promote cooperation and a spirit of joint work among all students.
Professor Reda Hegazy said that Al-ryada University for Science and Technology has played an important role in caring for people of determination and entered into a partner with the International Special Olympics for Caring for People of Determination and hosted at its headquarters the First Sports and Scientific Festival of the Intellectual Disability Challenge.
Dr. Reda Hegazy expressed his appreciation for the struggle of the heroes of determination and their determination to excel, explaining that (RST) is keen to nurture them through the establishment of the Center for the Special Needs of the University to provide them with full care from educational support, psychological counselling and qualification to facilitate their exercise of academic activities and become the 25th center at the level of Egyptian universities
A delegation from the University participated in the launch of the initiative under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Mamdouh Saleh, Vice-Chancellor of the University for Education and Students Affairs. The delegation included a number of faculty members, youth welfare and 30 students in order to achieve the initiative’s goal of providing equal opportunities for people of determination and building bridges of communication with them.
Al-Ryada University for Science and Technology students participated in torching the torch and queuing the presentation of participating universities and several activities and events of the initiative, including workshops, awareness-raising, educational and sporting lectures that bring together students of determination and their fitting peers in order to familiarize them with the services provided and the rights and duties of the people of determination.
The event also included a presentation of the success stories of a number of people of determination for their personal experiences, how they dealt with their disabilities, and did not surrender, but by their will challenged all obstacles, turning disability into a source of inspiration and creativity, emphasizing that satisfaction, patience and will, lead to an epic, making people of determination effective partners in society, able to integrate fully into society.
