Al-Ryada University students excel in the Parliament Simulation
The Student Union Council of Al-Ryada University for Science and Technology (RST) organized a simulation of the Egyptian House of Representatives as part of the Presidential Initiative “A New Beginning for Human Development”.
The event was held under the patronage of Dr. Yehia Mabrouk, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Prof. Dr. Reda Hegazy, President of the University, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Mohamed El-Sherbiny, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs.
During the simulation, students presented a mock parliamentary session in front of the university president, members of parliament, and university leaders. The session included discussions on questions and interpellations directed to the Ministry of Environment concerning water pollution in the Nile River caused by agricultural and industrial waste, as well as the spread of unsafe waste incineration sites in some governorates.
The simulation featured a meaningful and serious dialogue between student representatives acting as members of parliament and a student representing the Minister of Environment, who responded to the inquiries. The students vividly portrayed the reality of parliamentary work—managing the session by the Speaker and deputies, presenting societal issues effectively, and offering government responses supported by statistics and figures. This reflected the students’ political awareness and deep understanding of governance processes.
Prof. Dr. Reda Hegazy praised the Model Parliament Simulation, noting that it prepares students to become future leaders who are politically aware. He emphasized that the experience helps students understand the supervisory and legislative role of the House of Representatives and how to address societal issues in a way that contributes to achieving Egypt’s vision for a sustainable future.
