An Educational Seminar Titled: “Technological Awareness and Cybersecurity in the Digital Age”

As part of the Presidential Initiative “A New Beginning for Building the Human Being”, the Faculty of Business Administration at Al-Ryada University for Science and Technology (RST) organized an educational seminar titled “Technological Awareness and Cybersecurity in the Digital Age.”
The session was delivered by Dr. Mohamed Mohsen Ramadan, Cybersecurity and Cybercrime Consultant, under the patronage of Dr. Yehia Mabrouk, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Professor Dr. Reda Hegazy, University President.
At the opening, Dr. Abdel Hamid Shahin, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, welcomed the attendees, explaining that the seminar aimed to equip students with general digital skills and methods to protect their personal data from theft and avoid online fraud.
Professor Dr. Reda Hegazy presented the university’s vision, mission, and strategic goals, emphasizing RST’s commitment to providing an advanced, tech-driven learning environment that empowers graduates with creative thinking, innovation, and competitiveness in the job market. He stressed the importance of this seminar for all students to understand the latest developments in cybersecurity and how to address digital threats. Dr. Hegazy also directed that similar seminars be held across all faculties to enhance students’ technological and cybersecurity awareness.
In his lecture, Dr. Mohamed Mohsen shared practical advice on protecting personal information and data, including:
Avoiding unknown or suspicious internet links
Using strong Wi-Fi passwords that include letters, symbols, and numbers (at least 18 characters)
Never using the same password across all personal and online accounts
He also highlighted the importance of regularly updating mobile phones and installed software to avoid vulnerabilities, and advised against downloading applications from untrusted sources, recommending only verified app stores. He urged students to carefully review the permissions granted to each app.
The seminar was attended by Professor Dr. Ehab Saeed, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Community Service; Professor Dr. Mohamed El-Sherbiny, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs; along with faculty deans, academic staff, and students from various departments.
