International collaboration between Al-Ryada University and Lockheed Canada in the use of artificial intelligence applications in medicine and engineering

As part of Al-Ryada University for Science and Technology (RST)’s commitment to fostering partnerships with international universities and educational and research institutions, and under the patronage of Dr. Yehia Mabrouk, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and Professor Dr. Reda Hegazy, University President, a group of faculty members and teaching assistants from the Faculties of Engineering, Computing and Artificial Intelligence, and Dentistry participated in a training program with researchers from Lakehead University, Canada, on artificial intelligence applications in the medical and engineering fields, within the framework of the international training program (Aurora Initiative).
The University’s Postgraduate Studies, Research, and International Relations Sector organized a celebration to honor the participating teaching assistants who successfully completed the program and obtained an international certificate.
Professor Dr. Ehab Saeed, Vice President for Postgraduate Studies, explained that the joint training program between researchers from the two universities contributed to enhancing the skills of software engineers and training them on specialized programming languages to develop advanced programs for artificial intelligence applications in the medical field. The goal is to maximize patient benefit through smart diagnosis of various diseases with high accuracy and speed, based on specific inputs fed into the system to reach a precise diagnosis in the shortest possible time, thereby ensuring the selection of the optimal treatment plan.
The joint training also included smart engineering applications, such as the rapid and accurate detection of car malfunctions, identifying the issue, and proposing solutions. This represents a real-world application of the Automotive Engineering Program, one of the distinctive study programs offered by the Faculty of Engineering at the University.
The first phase of training on designing specialized programs for smart applications has been completed, and preparations are now underway for the second practical phase, during which these smart applications will be applied across all medical and engineering disciplines at the University. Students will be trained on how to use these applications, representing a qualitative leap and a live example of the integration of technological applications in education. This will significantly enhance the skills of the University’s graduates and distinguish them in both the local and international labor markets.
It is worth noting that Lakehead University in Canada specializes in computer technology programs, artificial intelligence, and its applications.
